Roger Dubuis at Watch & Wonders Hong Kong
For clothing, we have fashion week. For watches, we've heard of big names such as Baselworld in Switzerland and the Salon International Haute Horlogerie at Geneva. As the heat of Summer comes to an end, Watch & Wonders happens - an annual fine watchmaking exhibition event in Hong Kong.
Balmain x h&m #HMBALMAINATION
Pierre Balmain founded Balmain in 1946 and had the title of 'King of French fashion'. The concept of haute couture took off after the war as ateliers began to use unconventional materials to make pieces tailored for individuals' needs. Couture originated in Paris, so it makes sense for people to return to this capital seasonally for haute couture weeks.
Park Hyatt Beijing
My visit to Beijing in July this Summer marked my return in 10 years, much more memorable now since I could barely remember much on my prior visit as a child. For the past few years, I've been told countless times about 'how much China has changed'; from the 2008 Beijing olympics to the 2010 Shanghai expo, both events that firmly changed the international recognition of the cities.
Agi & Sam SS16
Agi & Sam is always a treat every season. The designer duo's playfulness shows, at first, through their invitation - a single-sided card that has invisible ink scribbled on it. On the side, guests are provided with an UV torch to reveal the location and time of the show, scribbled by invisible ink.
Kent & Curwen AW15
Kent & Curwen is one of the few classic British tailoring brands that you can find in Hong Kong. The brand roots back to the 1920s when it was established and responsible for creating military and college uniforms. This later developed into a supplier for major sport clubs and matches, especially in cricket and rackets.
Normcore is Dead
Instead of opting for the classic title of 'Postcards From Paris', I replaced it with an issue discussed in the September issue of British Vogue, namely that 'The return of Show Off Fashion' by Sarah Harris, Fashion Features Director of British Vogue. And I think this title is well-suited to these photos of my striking Noose & Monkey yellow suit.
PARIS XVIE - A Film Project By Willy Vanderperre for Dior Homme
Staring Body Holbrook, an American, 6'1, blonde hair, blue eyed model who waltzes around the City of Lights to portray a day in life as a Parisian. A film by WIlly Vanderperre who I remember hearing first last year when I was searching for inspiration for a shoot this time last year. Vanderperre quickly became my favourite photographer and videographer after shooting his previous SS15 campaign and, most recently, this video Paris XVIe for the Winter15 collection.
Topman/ Topshop Dungaree Fun
Channeling dungaree fun with Tania from The Laughing Shooter. I've recently shot these pictures and rented a studio for the first time with Tania. Originally we wanted to stick to this cowboy/girl-esque theme but, as seasons and stock comes and goes, we matched in knit sweaters from Topman and Topshop and dungarees from Topshop
The Dior Sunglasses Language - Technologic/ So Real/ Composit/ Abstract
Dior's sunglasses game has changed in recent years. I don't have a specific timeline map nor a press release to follow - but I do (and have kept) my eye out for their eyewear, especially sunglasses. It should be no surprise that in recent years, a lot has changed.
Bulgari Hotel & Residences London
I remember walking past the Bulgari hotel back in 2012, the third of its kind after Milan and Bali, when it opened its doors, and was amazed that fashion brands can have ties with luxury hotels. The Bulgari Hotel & Residences opened its doors in the heart of Knightsbridge, steps away from London's luxury fashion savvy epicentre Harvey Nichols and Harrods.
Dior Homme Été 2016
IN ALL DISORDER A SECRET ORDER
Invitations give the best clues, in the discretion of the designer. Every small detail somehow translates into something larger on the runway. A black, neat, square box arrived enclosed with the invitation and the poster (that naturally comes with the invitation every season).
Saint Laurent SS16
Saint Laurent is not for the faint-hearted.
The SS16 show started with a bang - with diagonal rainbow lights that spun around in the background before the models stomped their way for the namely 'Surf Sound Collection'. Before I go on about creative director Hedi Slimane's magic, the brand likes the idea of getting in touch with the artsy side.
