Aire Ancient Baths London

A hidden sanctuary in the heart of london…

Have you ever thought about soaking in a tub of red wine*? Videos of Aire Ancient Baths have flooded my feed many times - its instantly recognisable blue pools, candle-lit corners and brick walls. A visit to the London branch (Aire has international locations across New York, Barcelona, Copenhagen and more) is not only for escapists - it’s also for those curious in history.

AIRE London is located in the former residence of Peter Pan author J M Barrie. Upon check-in, the reception would guide your eyes to a precious glass case adjacent to the desk. Enclosed within is THE original Peter Pan copy. The exclamations continue as you are guided downstairs to the cellar, which houses more than 8 baths, at various temperatures (from cold plunge to floating bath) with corners for ultimate privacy. As the spa caps at 18 people (including those at massages), it's never full and you can always find a quiet spot.

Choose from a variety of experiences - whether you are curious as to the benefits of a 90-minute self-tour of the thermal baths, or the massage packages (the private rooms are equally gorgeous, which is expected since it is a blue plaque). A must do when visiting London and the perfect sanctuary retreat in the heart of the city to unwind . When I left the spa, I counted my footsteps and was shocked that I was only a 2-minute walk from The Strand. Covent Garden.

A holiday without going abroad.

I love my baths - but my favourite one has to be the floatarium: a salt water bath that allows you to float as if you’re in the Dead Sea. Just don’t get any of that salty water in your eyes like I did…

*alas the bath is like myself, non-alcoholic (on most days)
